Finchley & Golders Green candidate Laura Edge discussing the manifesto with Vince Cable
The Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidates for the three Barnet constituencies of Chipping Barnet, Hendon and Finchley & Golders Green say that fairness, openness and effectiveness are the key features of the national Liberal Democrat manifesto launched today.
The manifesto highlights the fundamental changes the Lib Dems will make to make Britain fair:
Stephen Barber, candidate for Chipping Barnet, said: "Only the Liberal Democrats offer a fair deal for older residents in Barnet. The Lib Dems will immediately restore the link between pensions and earnings. We will use increases in average earnings, prices or 2.5% (whichever is higher), to determine the increase in the state pension."
Matthew Harris, candidate for Hendon, said: "We need to clean up politics, reforming the system that allowed expenses to cause a political crisis for this country. Local people's trust has been badly strained by what happened with expenses, which must never, ever be repeated."
Laura Edge, candidate for Finchley & Golders Green, said: "The Lib Dems' costed proposals for a Pupil Premium for children from poorer backgrounds will put an extra £18m into Barnet schools to provide a fair start for local children."
