Barnet Liberal Democrats have selected their three Candidates to fight Mill Hill Ward in the 2010 Local Elections.

Says Liberal Democrat Group Leader Jack Cohen: "We are looking to build on the 16 year-record of action and achievement of the two current Lib Dem Councillors."

Cllr Jeremy Davies has been a councillor since 1994. Jeremy is well known for his tireless campaigning and defence of the Green Belt. Cllr Davies is well respected on Barnet Council and is the only opposition member to chair a Council Committee. As Chair of the Audit Committee he works tirelessly to hold the Conservative-controlled administration to account. Cllr Davies says: "I will continue working hard on behalf of local taxpayers. The Conservatives have been financially irresponsible and incompetent and out of touch with the needs of local people."

Adds Jack:"Jeremy brings invaluable experience to the team."

Kim Checchetto is a local businesswoman who runs a successful communications company. Kim is a Governor at both Dollis Infant and Junior Schools. She is the Chair of a local charity and is well known as a campaigner for better child protection. Kim says: "I will fight to see both an improved quality of life for local people and a better environment for businesses and public organisations. This means fighting for the economic well-being of all, support for hard working families, good schools and successful local businesses. We need to recognise that we are a community of shared interests."

Roger Tichborne is a well known local businessman, musician and writer. He is an active member of Mill Hill Music Festival Organising Committee. Roger is best know for his popular blog, which has received widespread recognition for its coverage of all manner of subjects. He has led the debate on many of the goings-on on Barnet Council. Says Roger: "Many of the decisions affecting Mill Hill residents are being made behind closed doors. We need to open-up Barnet Council and give people a real say in the decisions that affect them". He adds: "I will work to achieve more support for our youth and for local sports clubs".
