Alasdair Hill and Jonathan Davies have been selected to stand in Hendon and Finchley & Golders Green constituencies respectively in this year's General Election.

Alasdair HillAlasdair Hill, 29, is a secondary school teacher from Mill Hill. He has recently come to prominence locally leading the fight to save our libraries from closure. His petition has now reached over 8,000 signatures and has galvanised the whole community, successfully keeping libraries at the forefront of local debate.

Alasdair said: "The Liberal Democrats have a proud history of standing up to discrimination, standing up to illegal wars and standing up for a modern and more representative democratic system. Together with our record in government; fairer taxes, a stronger primary education, increased pensions and a Green Investment Bank, we are dedicated to building an open and tolerant Britian where everyone can take part."

Jonathan Davies

Jonathan Davies was a councillor in Childs Hill in the 1990s when he led the introduction of recycling collections in Barnet. He was Parliamentary candidate in Finchley & Golders Green in 1997 and has been one of the national Vice Presidents of the Liberal Democrats. He is well known in the local community as Treasurer of Golders Green Synagogue.

Jonathan said: "The Liberal Democrats have a record of success in Government, and we will be promising more. We have given an £800 tax cut to low and middle income earners. Disadvantaged primary school kids in the Borough of Barnet will receive £15.66 million this year to boost attainment, thanks to the Liberal Democrats' Pupil Premium. We will balance the budget by 2018, continue cutting taxes for low and middle earners and ensure decent public services, creating opportunity for everyone. Only the Liberal Democrats will create opportunity for all by building a stronger economy and a fairer society
