Altan will provide an alternative voice for Garden Suburb on Barnet Council

Altan AkbiyikAltan Akbiyik, the Liberal Democrat candidate in this Thursday's Garden Suburb Ward by-election, said: "I want to provide an alternative voice for the Suburb on Barnet Council, with a stronger focus on local issues. I want to replicate Jack Cohen's achievements in Childs Hill for the residents here in the Suburb. With the Tories on a majority of only one on the Council, this is an excellent opportunity to change the dynamic of local decision making, and stand up for a strong voice for the Suburb."

Altan Akbiyk is aged 47, and is married with a one year old daughter. He lives in Brunner Close in the Suburb, and has previously contested Garden Suburb for the Liberal Democrats. He is keen to represent his own community on Barnet Council. Altan is campaigning on improving local services, with a special focus on local primary schools, as well as improving safety on Suburb streets, introducing 20 mph zones and fixing poorly maintained roads and pavements.
