Responding the the Tory migration target of only "tens of thousands," Alasdair Hill, Liberal Democrat candidate for Hendon says;
"Immigration has made London the successful world city that it is today and the plans to cut immigration to the size of Mill Hill or Hendon, nationwide, is nothing short of an economic own goal.
It is the government's responsibility to make sure apprenticeships and training is available to Londoners to get ahead; this should be the focus not bringing up the draw bridge for worldwide talent.
As someone who is married to a French national I find the way in which the Tories talk down the contribution immigrants make to our society, through their skills, investment and tax receipts, deeply depressing. In particular, London is one of the Science Capitals of the World and any cut to migration on the scale the Tories propose will result in a Brain Drain of epic proportions."
