After the Liberal Democrat victory in the Brecon and Radnorshire by-election, the Finchley and Golders Green's Liberal Democrat candidate urges local Labour voters to support her to Stop Brexit.
"We're likely to have a general election soon, and Labour can't win in Finchley and Golders Green right now," said Liberal Democrat candidate Clareine Enderby. "Labour's failure to deal properly with its anti-Semitism crisis has made it unelectable here. And its failure to adopt a clear stance on Brexit has made it not worth electing."
Mrs Enderby, who joined the Liberal Democrats in 2017 because of their clear position on Brexit having previously been a Labour supporter, went on:
"Brexit, specially if we crash out, as the Prime Minister clearly wants us to do, will damage the living standards and quality of life of the people whom Labour claims to represent. It will end any hope of making British society fairer, or dealing effectively with the climate emergency. "We have had a foretaste of what Boris Johnson's Brexit will look like. The shaming story of the British ambassador to Washington, betrayed by Johnson for fear of irritating President Trump, is just the start."
"When Trump says jump, Johnson asks how high. And after Brexit, he will have to, because the UK will depend on Trump's patronage."
"What Johnson is offering is a mean-spirited, right-wing, reactionary, impoverishing Brexit."
"And Labour is complicit in it. If the Labour frontbench had unambiguously supported a People's Vote, it could have been secured by now. It still can - but Labour has made itself part of the problem, when it could have been part of the solution."
"The only way Labour voters in Finchley and Golders Green can help defeat Brexit is to vote Liberal Democrat this year."
